How to become a ScopeM user

Interested researchers shall apply for a user account – a step that needs to be done only once – via ScopeM web portal (external pageapplication for user account). The registration will be approved after confirmation from the researcher’s supervisor (usually the PI). Immediately at the bottom of the same page, or any time later, users can submit their applications for projects on the ScopeM web portal (external pageapplication for project). An application shall describe the objectives of the project and will be evaluated by ScopeM according to the following criteria:

  • Are the goals achievable with ScopeM instruments and resources?
  • Which techniques and equipment are the most suitable to reach the goals?
  • Does the user have the required expertise to achieve the goals, or is further training required?
  • Will the user operate autonomously, or is ScopeM staff requested to perform certain parts of the project (beyond training)?

After evaluation, a feedback is provided to the applicant and, in case of approval of the project, a staff member of ScopeM is identified as main contact (project admin) to ensure the follow-up during the course of the project.

Researchers are also highly welcome to contact ScopeM staff to discuss their project prior to applying for a user account and/or project.
