The Center

The Scientific Center for Optical and Electron Microscopy (ScopeM) is a central scientific technology platform of ETH Zurich providing resources and know-how in light, electron and ion microscopy as well as direct access to state-of-the-art microscopy and sample preparation equipment. The mission of ScopeM is to ensure world‐class expertise in microscopy and related areas including image/data processing and analysis primary for the wide ETH scientific community. Researchers from other academic entities, from research labs, and industry are also highly welcome.

ScopeM and its staff train users and provide expert support in projects in methods for sample preparation, data collection and analysis on a broad range of microscopy techniques/instruments.

ScopeM actively supports and/or initiates microscopy related projects with the objective to maintain long‐term technological and economic competitiveness. It is also in charge of the operation and renewal of instruments, ensuring an optimal balance between instruments dedicated to general education/research and worldwide state-of-the-art microscopes that enable to push research projects beyond the current frontiers.
