Image and Data Analysis

The Image & Data Analysis (external pageIDA) Unit of ScopeM at ETH Zurich specialises in advanced analysis methods and software tools to process and extract rich information from bio- and other images. Our services are available to all researchers at the ETH Zurich and, upon agreement, to external users.

We cover a range of standard image processing and analysis tools that we can apply or teach you how to do by yourself. When no suitable tool exists, we can develop it for you in MATLAB, Python, C, or Fiji/ImageJ.

Neural Networks-based methods are nowadays powerful tools for microscopy and can outperform conventional image pipelines opening new possibilities. Some applications of Deep Learning include denoising, increasing resolution (spatial and temporal), reducing the number of markers, segmentation, and detection. Still, accessing these powerful methods is not easy, and often there exists a barrier that novice users find difficult to overcome. The Image and Data Analysis unit of ScopeM offers consultations and support for projects involving Image Analysis, with a special focus on Deep Learning.

We also provide regular courses to ETH members covering introductions to some of these tools as well as image processing and analysis in general. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information.
