Brief description:

The microscope is dedicated for operation with the Gatan 3View system: a microtome equipped with a diamond knife mounted inside the SEM chamber. This allows automated serial block-face imaging. Three dimensional data sets are obtained by sequentially sectioning and imaging the resulting block-face by SEM. Stacks with 5 nm imaging resolution, 5k x 5k pixels wide, and a section thickness between 30–200 nm can be acquired routinely. A special sample preparation is required for optimum results.

• Digital Micrograph, Gatan (data acquisition)
• Amira (FEI) or Imaris (Bitplane) are available for visualization and analysis

• however, bookings exceeding 48 h should be coordinated with the instrument responsible
